A few months ago, when I was about to leave for the next big thing, I called up my travel agent in Las Vegas and said, “Can you help me get a booking for a cruise?”
The reply was a resounding, “Hell no!”
I thought I was in trouble.
But I was not alone.
A few weeks earlier, I was contacted by another American traveler who was searching for a new hotel and hotel company.
And it didn’t take long for the two to meet, because, as you can imagine, the next thing we knew, they were in the same hotel room and discussing the next chapter of their relationship.
The story begins with a vacation in Tahiti, the largest island in the Indian Ocean.
The company I was working for was doing something a little unusual for an American company: it was hiring workers to go to the island for an overnight cruise.
This would allow it to sell the hotel directly to tourists, who could book a room on their own and pay cash, rather than booking through a travel agency.
So far, so good.
But this was not the beginning of an adventure.
As I walked through the airport to catch a flight to Vegas, I noticed a sign on the wall of the arrivals area.
It read, “You must be a resident of Nevada, USA to book for a hotel.”
The first thing that struck me was that this sign was not in English.
It was written in Hebrew.
But as the two of them talked, I could hear the words, “Welcome to Las Vegas,” as they spoke in Hebrew and I could tell that they were speaking Hebrew.
I was impressed.
This was a company that was making a name for itself in a small but growing segment of the travel industry.
They were hiring people to travel to a tiny island in one of the most remote corners of the globe and sell them their vacation experience.
I was very intrigued.
It was only a matter of time before I heard about an online travel agency that was doing exactly what Las Vegas was doing.
In November, we began to see some of the other travelers who had booked hotels for their vacation, and it was an interesting time.
I remember the first time I saw a book on the website was when I called to book a hotel room in New York.
It said, We’re hiring for a trip to New York, USA for December 15-19.
I looked it up and I said, Whoa.
This is a real deal.

And they said, It was a great idea, but we need to hire for a week.
They said that they would contact the hotels in New England, but I couldn’t believe it.
I thought they would have a few weeks to decide what to do.
And then they emailed back saying that they needed to hire someone to come to New England.
We were about to hit our busiest season yet, and Las Vegas had a few days to fill.
We began to search for a good hotel to book in New Orleans.
I wanted to book the hotel for a couple of nights but my travel agency would not do it.
But then, my travel manager came back and said: I want to book something in Las Vega.
And that was it.
We went to Las Vega and booked our hotel.
Within two weeks, we had booked a room for December 11-13.
I can’t remember how many people had bookings for this trip, but the hotel was booked by the end of the week.
I can’t speak for all of the people who booked hotels in Las Venes, but it is an extraordinary feat to have a company, and a business, that has been in this space for over a decade and has been able to do so with such success.
The business model, which has been operating in the US since the 1980s, has been based on the idea that you need to book hotels in a way that makes the most sense for the individual travelers, not the company.
The hotel business model has been around for almost a decade, and has grown tremendously.
But the challenge for many travelers who use hotels for vacation is that, for most people, it is not possible to book an Airbnb-style vacation.
So the hotel business has been driven to the point where it is almost impossible to book anything with the travel agency’s name on it.
And there is an even bigger problem.
We are now in a very dangerous time for travel, because of terrorism and the threat of terrorism, and the only way to get people to book hotel in a reasonable way is to offer a vacation experience that is completely free.
So for the past two years, Las Vegas has been a hotbed for the tourism industry.
But with Airbnb, there is a new twist.
